Positive Behaviour Support
Our small team of Behaviour Support Practitioners works within a holistic framework to understand each participant, their unique circumstances, and the factors influencing their behaviour. Through collaborative information gathering and assessments, we develop person-centred strategies that inform Behaviour Support Plans. We then provide guidance, training, and education to participants and their support networks to help implement these strategies effectively.
Our practitioners recommend both proactive and reactive approaches; proactive strategies that build skills and independence, alongside reactive strategies designed to reduce the risk of harm and support safety during times of distress.
We recognise that behaviour is often a form of communication and may reflect unmet needs, stress, or experiences of difficulty. By reducing stressors, supporting individual needs, and developing new skills and coping strategies, we aim to reduce behaviours of concern and enhance each participant’s overall quality of life.
